Meet Ruth
Hi! I’m Ruth and I just love to help kids be the best that they can be!
As a qualified and registered counsellor, I love to see kids grow and develop, learn new skills and thrive through a strong sense of self and wellbeing. My registration with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) ensures I am accountable to professional ethical guidelines, regular ongoing professional development and professional supervision.
I am a mum of three primary school-aged kids and a foster carer. I previously worked at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre as a radiation therapist. Even as a radiation therapist I always had a heart and care for kids and their families, leading to the privilege of presenting at a national radiation therapy conference on the impacts that childhood cancer has on the siblings of the cancer patient. I've also really enjoyed working with young people through small groups, camps and workshops over many years.
My love for music started in primary school, learning keyboard. This continued through secondary college, playing trumpet and piano in the school bands and travelling on regional band tours as well as a world tour!
Now I love to use music and other fun activities to help kids to learn, express emotions, understand and implement counselling strategies and tell their own unique story. I have a heart for kids to be able to flourish by empowering them with skills that enhance their wellbeing, social skills and sense of identity.
